“[THE LIFESPAN OF A FACT] moves with the ticking-clock urgency the situation demands, yet finds appropriate moments to breathe and let us ruminate on the personal, professional and moral issues at stake…[an] ingenious adaptation of the sui generis book of the same name…”
“…terrifically funny dialogue…once the writer and the fact-checker get into a lively debate on the ethics of factual truth vs. the beauty of literary dishonesty, it’s time to really sit up and listen…Their deadly serious but oh-so-funny ethical dispute is brilliantly argued…the debate at the heart of this play transcends comedy and demands serious attention.”
“…buoyantly literate…wholly resonant questions [are] wrestled with in this briskly entertaining play…you’ll find yourself happy to have your preconceptions disturbed and assumptions unsettled.”

"Alice Again uncovers the man behind Alice in Wonderland. The Off-Broadway production investigates the real story of Lewis Carroll, a controversial figure in literary circles. This is the third iteration of the piece for [playwright Gordon] Farrell, following a two-person version that played San Francisco in 1981, and an expanded Buffalo version in 1992. The play follows [Lewis Carroll] on the day he reunites with the woman who inspired Alice in Wonderland... years after he was forbidden from making contact with her."
- Margaret Hall, Playbill
“Well conceived, charmingly written and moving… ‘Alice Again’ by Gordon Farrell offers an evening that will set you drifting in childhood's streams and make your heart dance a little. 4.5 out of 5 stars!” – Patricia Donovan, Buffalo News
“’Alice Again’ is color and whimsy and silly music, wrapped up and collated… from chalkboard, to piano, to the never ending arranging and re-arranging of words, even as he tells a simple tale, [‘Alice Again’] remains true to the overall lunacy that Carroll seemed to live with on a daily basis.” – Peter Runfola, Nightlife.

On Christmas Eve, a help line telephone counselor suffers his own hilarious and terrifying breakdown as as mysterious phone call sucks him into his past.
“Sometimes hilarious, sometimes heartbreaking… Scotch and Madness is an entertaining foray into one ordinary man’s complex and tormented mind… that will make you wonder what’s going on in the mind of the person sitting next to you in the theater or at the next table in the restaurant…” - Ann Marie Cusella, Buffalo Voice
“In the story’s graceful movement through space and time, or its fluctuations between consciousness and unconsciousness… the play’s freewheeling game of association is not immediately apparent to the audience. The layers of communication and thwarted communication in the play are intriguing… Fred learns that it is not the individual events of his life that are most important. It is not the stops along the way that matter most. What matters is the journey itself as we travel to the top of life’s metaphoric hill. 3 out of 4 stars!” - Anthony Chase, Buffalo News

An evening of monologues adapted from true stories given to the playwright by the women he has known who wanted them put on stage - stories that need to heard.
“[The Red Anthology], written by Gordon Farrell, tells the true stories of eight women whom he has known throughout his life. Each story’s speaker commands full attention as she shares her secrets. Stories of heartbreak, helplessness and crises of faith intertwine to form a cycle of self-discovery and reinvention. The stage is bare except for two movable boxes and eight chairs. As each character speaks, the rest of the characters sit and watch attentively, at times even laughing and reacting along with the audience. Together, they create an atmosphere of vulnerability and honesty, a space of healing for all to see.”
– Julia Pugachevsky, Washington Square News
"Gordon Farrell has taken the phrase 'everyone has a story tell' literally in his new play "The Red Room/Every Woman Dances for Someone." The most shocking thing about the play is not, as one might think, the chosen setting of a strip club, but the slow realization that the character's tales of rape, abuse, and neglect were not the author's fictional creation, but true stories from real women; this is where the show finds its real power. I was moved.”
